    Another added danger on a Trike is the rear width. It takes some getting used to. As you pull up to a gas pump it is easy to forget about the wider back end especially if you have been on 2 wheels for 50+ years. Easy to hit the Yellow Safety Bollards Parking Post Barriers at fuel stations. Same with taking Right hand turns on the roads and into driveways. You are accustomed to cutting closer on two wheels but must remember you now have a wider rear behind you and can easily strike the curb. Same goes for drive up windows at fast food and banks etc. That wide rear end has got to be a focus or it's easy to forget. I'm 67 now and am having to get off my Limited Low 2 wheel and go to the Tri Glide due to 5 right knee surgeries and the need to replace both knees. Finding it is not nearly as fun to ride, and DEFINITELY mork WORK to ride taking curves and not being able to just lean and go but it is more relaxing, because I can't drop it. Easy to keep the rubber on the road and the shiny side up!

    I run a thicker oil for summer months over 70 degrees, I like to run straight 60 in theses temps. come fall I go back to a thinner oil. This would work great for me. 2 oil changes per year regardless of miles. When it comes to oil everyone has an opinion, mine is that 20-50 is too thin for air cooled engine in hot temps for any style of riding. I ride 2 up on a 2013 tri glide pulling a trailer with gear. 70 MPH AND ABOVE LOADED WITH GEAR MAKES FOR A LOT OF HEAT BUILD UP. Riders wait for miles to change oil. I enjoy my 103 and want it to last, so oil change 2 times a year for me. You guys do a fantastic job of passing on important tips to keep these air-cooled engines running. Thanks

    I'm not convinced that the full "hot" level is related to the oil temperature, but more to do with the location of the oil in the system when checking it immediately after it's had a good run.

    How about fuel passing the rings and getting in the oil?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts 8 годин тому

      If you have enough fuel passing the rings that it would make a measurable difference in the oil level...there is a problem that needs addressing. Do a leakdown test, as shown in the following video. If it fails, gotta fix it, then cool that engine down so it does not happen again. ua-cam.com/video/gojpttZQjKk/v-deo.html Below is a link to a report on why and how to cool down your Twin Cam & M8 engines. www.dkcustomproducts.com/why-how-to-cool-down-the-twin-cam-engine-part-i-dk-cl-tc-dn-1.htm Thank you for commenting! Hi could you tell me please. I just installed spot light LEDs to my bike using the spare original socket that’s often used to fit a handlebar USB socket. Hope this is ok they are 90 watt spots. Also I had the ignition on while I was setting up my navigation only to find after a few mins my new LEDs were almost too hot to keep my hands on the outside metal body. I do hope they are ok this hot? Thank you.

      Are you talking about the Stealth LED Driving Lights at this link? www.dkcustomproducts.com/stealth-led-driving-passing-lights-headlight-universal-mount-dk-stl-led-dl.htm If so, they should not get so hot that you can't touch them. They do warm up, but no where near too hot to touch. If you are asking about some other lights, we don't know which ones and likely have never tested them, even if you did tell us which ones.

      Remove the left side thigh protector. This will help the air flow very fast past the rear cylinder and out the left side...this is good for the engine, and will reduce the amount of felt hot air on the right side. As always, Great video, I have a 2023 Road King Special with SE Street Cannon slip ons, the dealer said take out the DB killers at the end of the slip ons which they did and I notice quite a lot of loss of low end torque. I’m going to put in a K&N filter into the already high flow air cleaner to make it a stage 1 Will a good tune help with getting back the low end torque or do I need to reinstall the db killers? I much prefer the sound with the db killers removed but don’t want to lose that much torque. Thanks for your help!

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts 20 годин тому

      The only power loss you have is due to reversion at the end of the pipe. The TTI's were created to eliminate reversion and bring back that low-mid range torque loss. You can see the TTI's at this link - www.dkcustomproducts.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=thunder+torque You can see a full written report on exhaust at this link that you may find interresting/useful - www.dkcustomproducts.com/harley-exhaust-myths-and-facts.htm Of course you can get a tune for even better performance, but with the TTI's you may not even feel the need to get a tune. This vid is 3 years old. Hopefully I can find an answer. Have a ( I know not a bike) but put an aftermarket dmc exhaust on my Polaris razor 900 xp. I didn't know about wetting it or silicone,I wrapped it and started it and it started smoking on one side closest to the head. It's duel exhaust down both sides now. Wasn't with stock . Can anyone please help this lady on what to do? Or why even it would smoke. I live in a small town in az. Any shop here won't help me with bringing it in to look they say. I can't imagine the price of that for just an answer or help with what to do Anyone know ,?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts День тому

      Not sure what you wrapped it with. The DEI Exhaust wrap should not be wetted or silicone, or any other liquid on it. If you have used a different wrap, we cannot help you. All the other wraps we tested were not anything we would run on our bikes, or any other engine, like your Razor. It could just need a few hours to burn off whatever is on there...or ??? I wish we could be of more help. Not all wraps are the same. IF you are using the DEI wrap, as seen at the link below, there may be a little smoke after it is first installed, but it should stop within an hour or so. www.dkcustomproducts.com/titanium-exhaust-wrap-dei-reduced-heat-improved-performance-dk-dei-t35.htm

I kept listening and the more I did, the more I realized that these guys know what they are talking about, and know far more about optimizing Harley performance and comfort than anyone that I've met at a dealership or elsewhere. I love American made and I have some of your products on my tri glide but I also have one made in Germany and it also works great now how many parts on a Harley are actually made in the USA .You talk about China the Government let there people walk through the Frankford arsenal that were top secret my father worked there and had top clearance and could not go there .I worked at USSteel and they let them have access to anything they wanted .

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts 2 дні тому

      The only power loss you have is due to reversion at the end of the pipe. The TTI's were created to eliminate reversion and bring back that low-mid range torque loss. You can see the TTI's at this link - www.dkcustomproducts.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=thunder+torque You can see a full written report on exhaust at this link that you may find interresting/useful - www.dkcustomproducts.com/harley-exhaust-myths-and-facts.htm Please feel free to contact us with any questions; Support@DKCustomProducts.com 662-252-8828 Thank you for commenting! Scanned thru most of the comments, but haven't found an answer to my question. 2021 Ultra Limited, stage 1 with the SE Street Cannon slip ons. I'm not clear on whether or not I'll lose any power if I get rid of the cat with this setup. Is it that slip ons in general on a de-catted bike will cause a loss of power, or.......? Will I need to add your TT inserts? I love your videos. Keep up the great work.

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts 2 дні тому

      Experiencing a loss of power with just the removal of the cat is something that does not happen on the newer bikes...but on bikes older than 6-7 years ago, sometimes the o2 sensors would get some crosstalk when the cat was removed and that would mess with the EFI. There IS a decrease in heat radiating from the header, near the passenger right foot, when running without a cat. Removing the cat does not increase or decrease reversion. Stopping reversion (which, in turn speeds up exhaust gas velocity) has to happen at the end of the slip-ons. That is where the TTI's would come in and help with low-mid range torque. Here is a link to a video that shows more info on that. ua-cam.com/video/nB0XDQVjH9Y/v-deo.html Here is a written report on exhaust that you may find interesting/useful - www.dkcustomproducts.com/harley-exhaust-myths-and-facts.htm Please feel free to reach out with any questions; Support@DKCustomProducts.com 662-252-8828 Thanks for commenting! What happens in the first minute from cold seems to make a difference with how the lifters hold up. Idle too slow and low oil pressure under load doesn't keep the lifters pumped up? Having threads in the sump would have been nice when I went to do my first oil change on a 25 year old twin cam, will be better prepared for the transmission and primary plugs if I find plumbers tape on the plug.

    Received my 828 kit today. Unable to install baseplate to the throttle body because of the protrusion at the 8 o'clock position on the throttle body. In this video you show a spacer with an extra gasket with a notch on the bottom, to fit around that protrusion on the throttle body. I'm thinking I needed these extra parts for my 2021 RGS. Not sure why this wasn't included in the kit.
